Soil Sterilisers Sterilised soil promotes healthy plant growth by the eradication of soil-borne pests, diseases and weed seeds. This is achieved without harming the beneficial bacteria. The simplest, cleanest and most effective method of carrying out sterilisation at 86.6ºC(180ºF), is by means of CAMPLEX® insulated soil sterilisers. They are fitted with special aluminium panel elements having large surface areas between which the soil is placed. Uniform Temperature is obtained throughout. The electrical loading remains constant and is unaffected by the nature of the soil. Consistent results are thus obtained without any special experience of skill. After treatment the soil should be cooled rapidly and stored in sterile conditions.
Soil Steriliser (Cat No: HD5112) Capacity 34 Litres
Designed for use by the hobby gardener, the smaller nurseryman and educational establishments. The electrical loading is 1.5kW. It is filled at the top and emptied through the bottom. Sterilisation time is about 90 minutes with a consumption of 2¼ units of electricity. It is fitted with a 2m heat resistant cable and moulded plug. It is supplied with a dial type thermometer.

Soil Steriliser (HD5114) Capacity 68 Litres
This unit is similar to the HD5112 in construction, but is fitted with two 1.5kW elements. As with the HD5112 the sterilisation time is about 90 minutes with a consumption of 4½ units of electricity. It is fitted with a heat resistant cable and moulded plug and is supplied with a dial type thermometer.

Soil Steriliser (HD5116) Capacity 210 Litres
This is the largest unit in the range. It is fitted with six 1.5kW elements and is best suited for three phase supply. It comes complete with two dial thermometers which are fitted through the lid of the sterilser in to the soil. Sterilisation time is approximately 90 minutes with a consumption of 13½ units of electricity. The model is particuarly suitable for large growers, local authorities etc. After sterilisation is complete the soil is released by means of the handles, which drop the hinged base of the steriliser. The soil should be cooled rapidly and stored in sterile conditions.
